Livingston Parish School is a public school district located in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States. The district encompasses the entirety of Livingston Parish and has a total enrollment of 6,278 students as of the 2014-15 school year. The district’s superintendent is Dr. Douglas Smith.
The Livingston Parish Public Schools system was established in 1816 and it initially operated out of rented space. The first building erected to house the parish schools was a small wood frame structure that served as both a schoolhouse and church during services. By 1859, the system had outgrown its original facility and construction began on what would eventually become Livingston Parish School District headquarters – a two story brick structure that still stands today.
Over the years, numerous additions have been made to the campus including an elementary school (1955), high school (1965), vocational center (1973), and adult education center (1991).
